Collin Douma

Collin Douma is a Canadian-born naturalized American who creates a blend of contemporary surrealism and conceptual art that challenges conventional thinking on today's social issues. Like many, Collin started drawing as soon as he could lift a crayon—but he never stopped. By 18, he was already a nationally recognized animator, winning two national film festivals and having his work added to the permanent collection at the National Gallery of Canada.

Collin graduated in traditional animation from Algonquin College in Ottawa and went on to animate and illustrate children’s digital storybooks and content. He worked as an Art Director and later as a Group Creative Director and Advertising Strategist in the Toronto area before moving to New York in 2011.

A lifelong painter and writer, Collin has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the US, and Europe. His articles on "radical trust" have even been required reading at Emily Carr University’s Studies on Social Sciences. Collin has also shared his insights as a guest lecturer at various universities and events across Canada and the US including the University of Toronto, Dartmouth College, the Banff World Media Festival.

Today, Collin and his family make art in the Catskill Mountains near Woodstock, New York.
