"Art is how we shake our fists at entropy while admitting it has a point"

Why?

Culture looks pretty from a distance—like Saturn’s rings. Beautiful. Orderly. Impressive. But look a little closer, and entropy reigns. Billions of little moons crashing into one and other. Fracturing, clashing, grinding down to dust. Beliefs, ideas, values—colliding, That’s how it works.

Even the good stuff. Especially the good stuff.

Still, once in a while, a few pieces drift close and stick together. By gravity, luck, stubbornness—who knows? For a brief moment, something whole takes shape. Something new. Beliefs, ideas, values—seeking, forming, colliding in an eternal cosmic dance.

If I'm lucky, I'll notice. That's where the art comes from. To me, art is less about creation and more about discovering what's already there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it smashes into dust.

Patiently, I watch. I wonder. I make things. Dust may win in the end. But while I’m here I'll do my part. Art is how we shake our fists at entropy while admitting it has a point. Every so often, something sticks. Something holds. Not forever, but long enough to matter.

That’s enough for me.
