The illusion of life
The Human Figure in Motion, Captured in Still
Collin trained as a traditional animator, a discipline rooted in illustration, storytelling, and the illusion of life. Though his path has evolved, this foundation remains central to his work. He creates moments that feel alive—a subject on the verge of an anticipated step, a gesture just beginning to follow through.
Using inks and watercolor, Collin employs color as a dynamic tool to evoke motion. It pushes the line of action, shifts the center of balance, and amplifies the unseen energy in a composition. Even in stillness, his figures carry momentum—subtle washes, vivid contrasts, and fluid strokes suggest the activity swirling around them.
Collin’s work invites the viewer to pause, observe, and feel the momentum held within the stillness of the human form.
