UFS Papillon

Every civilization that lived with crocodiles made them gods. The Aztecs built the universe from one. The Maya carved them as the foundation of the earth itself. Egypt gave them Sobek, god of fertility, protection, and the Nile's renewal. Thousands of years of proximity produced one unanimous verdict: whatever this creature is, it is not to be dismissed.

We build condominiums on its nesting grounds.

The American crocodile is not the crocodile of nightmares. It is shy, coastal, and by crocodilian standards, remarkably tolerant of humans. Even if we don't deserve it.

Respect it. Fear is the problem. Miseducation has spent generations making a monster of an animal who simply wants to return home. We villainize its existence while developing the coastline it needs to survive.

Papillon is no direct threat. He has watched civilizations rise and fall from the waterline. He has been a god, a monster, and a nuisance. He has outlasted all the myths.
He'll outlast this one too.
