Many years ago, Collin developed a marketing strategy for the NGO War Child in Canada. This group helps rehabilitate former child soldiers and other children of war from their trauma, working toward some resemblance of a normal life.

Manipulating children to commit war crimes is arguably the worst war crime of all. Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game tells the story of such a child, manipulated into committing one of the worst crimes in human history: xenocide, the complete destruction of an entire species. This book first captured Collin's attention, and it led him into the rest of the Enderverse. These paintings draw inspiration from that world.
